@Force_of_Nature Naoe's gameplay I enjoy well, I'd say part of the reason is a bit of my bias towards the stealth direction in general and more enjoyable to navigate as a character. Bit more immersive. Some of the downsides is probably the voice acting is a miss or hit, and her story starts pretty slow to pick up while switching back and forth from Naoe and Yasuke.
Yasuke on the other hand reminds me too much of Odyssey or Valhalla put together in terms of approach+gameplay: mace and naginata go vroom, I can stealth but I make too much noise so me no stealth energy, with some positives that his story picks up pretty good early on but is probably the most controversial of the two. Alright as a character, unfortunately he sorta goes against what I enjoy from AC long run.
If I had my way, I probably would of converted Yasuke as another stealth character while him being unique under Nobunaga. It would of allowed me to enjoyably express stealth portions for either character to separate things from both a positive and negative stance. Granted his gameplay is still fun in a way, it's more of an opinion of mine with how I would of liked to play the game compared to previous entries.
Man you still get games a week early huh? my copy arrives today and I'm buying a PS5 Pro tomorrow so I look forward to playing this weekend. Controversial how? literally the only controversy I've seen is that grifters suddenly care about "historical accuracy" because it has a black samurai.
@UpSideDownGRUNT One of it is historical accuracy, but also the choices you make in the game, breaking sacred things in-game, and the fictional relationships (some bits can be taken as woke). I'd mention one of them but it's spoilery. It's still a video game so I wouldn't take it ultra serious either, but compared to previous entries this one is definitely by far the most controversial.
Eh...think the main issue is mostly other factors of contribution with accuracy/inaccuracy, like the message being sent. In just about every AC game majority of them are not accurate, but they were able to pull off things that despite not being accurate still made sense in the end to a degree.
AC: Shadows is more in line of "wtf that just doesn't make sense even if it's not accurate".
Ex. In AC: Shadows, Yasuke can be in a relationship with a non-binary individual. Obviously non-binary wasn't much of a thing back then (which is true) and it shouldn't be taken too serious for accuracy, but rather the message sent of it existing. Community pretty much questioned it like: "what is the point of this? who is this for? must every game push an agenda?"
In short, Ubisoft opened up a box full of firecrackers, so Japan and the west took advantage of it.
Japan in particular is the biggest one that took complaints of this that even the prime minister of Japan caught wind of it and was severely disappointed by AC: Shadows.
Well at least you have fun. I m not sure if I want to support it because the devs trivialize a historic event of the Tori gate with the funko pop stuff during a promo. That and they hired a so called eggspurt equivalent to a deviant art fanfic author. >.<
Well on the brightside, AC Shadows could be a cult classic overtime. If Tommy Wiseau can do it, I m sure this game can. XD
