I can barely recall the ending of DR2 when I think about it; i remember Junko returning as a giantess, and and the MC grew long hair because he was a split personality, and then it turned out everything was the matrix???

Fuck maybe I do need to play DR2x2, it'll refresh my memory while giving me some new ones

Everyone is technicaly alive no matter what except for Chiaki, as she was already dead before the game started, the island isn't real and they were all in comas/virtual reality machines - Junko was an AI trying to brainwash everyone.

So that is probably why they're remaking and adding extra content to the second game.
