Almost every 2P in the game is neutral or +1 on hit. I dont see why they can't do the same for jabs. Fast ass characters could have -1 on block and neutral on hit or something. Anything is better than negative on hit because thats dumb lol.
What about VF? Wasn't it the same too? When I played Jean Kujo (for that short time anyway) I learned that I could really only get anything started on elbow counterhit...
Though, I do have to say; the concept of "tick throwing" doesn't work very well when frame advantage isn't abundant, since most people (who aren't the cautious type...) stay 10 miles away from their block button... And they really have no reason to make that journey either.
No Drake in VF jabs are frame advantage on block. Jean Kujo picked up frame advantage on hit too but elbow counter hit was staple for him because it was a whopping +8 I believe. Jab was +2 on block which made his elbow 12 frames.
This would check 2P from the opponent. Jean also had chargeable attacks that gave him advantage on block. Advantage on counter hit isn't a problem in DOA as thats how most characters are able to start combos. Its NH thats the issue. If I hit with Eins 3P I am left at -2.
So basically even though I hit you, because I failed to score a counter hit my offense is over. That's what needs to go. If anything it would encourage players not to mash because If they do they will stay getting counterhit over and over again.
People aren't afraid to hit buttons because of the fact that everything is negative unless its a stun, frame advantage throw or counter hit jab. (Key word Jab, not jabs. Jabs on counterhit are negative.)
Most people dont even realize they were hit by counterhit jab and disrespect it anyway. That's how bad it is. People get hit and feel like they can attack.
People try to defend this by saying "This is what makes DOA unique." NO. This is not what makes DOA unique. What makes DOA unique is the triangle system and the role environment plays.
but not all jabs and pokes need to be negative on hit. The way things are now TN rewards someone for letting go of block to take pokes. That isn't solid.
Lmao I'm not going to deny that may be true. But I mean this is a great game that is accessible enough with many solid aspects. Don't need to include something most competitive players consider poor game design to make things more accessible.
Yes, but the 4P tracks also and since it's a mid you'll catch SSing opponents with that anyway, so the second punch's tracking status isn't super important (unless they try to SS 4PK, which was useful in the old days but now that its so unsafe you might as well block).
Would you people stop comparing doa to vf or tekken? Trying to say doa should be a certain way based on that logic I can't take this discussion seriously.
