  • Just played some DOA5. DO NOT RECOMMEND. You will never want to go back to DOA6.

I was poking around the PC version, which was not very active at all (might be different if they made some goddamn lobbies). Haven't checked the PS4 version in a while.

Game dead on PS4, you can find a few lost souls in one or two lobbies sometimes if you're lucky.

Sounds about right. What with no Leon and all in 6 probably until the game gets repackaged.
It just occurred to me that without stagger escaping and more consistent launch heights, Leon would be an absolute monster in DOA6.

I doubt 33P would be a fatal stun, I can see it being reverted to his 3 stun (think threshold resets). It was too strong as it was in 5 and I can see 2P+K and 3K on crouching opponents being his Fatal Stuns instead. He would probably keep his 66PP 2-in-1 but not 8PP and maybe not 4P+KP (because no more sit downs but I could see 4P+K also being a Fatal Stun) and his juggle bound would most likely be PP6P.

Leon was extremely dangerous in DOA5U/LR as well though, 3P was a deep stun, H+K was unstaggerable, 66PP is a natural combo etc. SE was not even a concern for Leon to be quite honest. The only realistic issue he had was speed and a not so great keepout game.

Two of his positive GBs are rather slow to initiate (6P+K uncharged+charged is pretty slow, 2P+K also slow which is normally only landed after light frame advantage in stun etc). There's barely anything to stagger Leon from, unless it's finding setups that lands on the fast state only which is a very small list. An improvement course, i'd like to see improvements to stay at frame advantage to keep the fear from Leon.
    >:Max talking about how "unique" combo breaks are in KI due to how they emphasize constant yomi.
    >Doesn't realize it's discount DOA.

Yeah, Lock out and counter breaker improved the yomi of KI but I agree with you, it is discount DOA. Well, the guy worked on the game, was a commentator in quite a few tournaments and it is one of his favourite fighting games of all time, of course you're going to bring out the positives of a game/franchise you really like. None of the 4 guys really play DOA anyhow, its either SF or MK.
This dude "confliction" has an endless supply of excuses. It's actually somewhat impressive.

    <FSD TIMELINE>
Pre-5: Mostly informative, helpful posts about game tech and promotional info.
DOA5: Similar to Pre-5, but with matchmaking and costume discussions.
DOA5U: FSD becomes a garden for home-grown memes and hilarious game videos.
DOA5LR: An absolute treasure trove of savage shitposting and melodrama.
    DOA6: 50% cynical musings, 50% vapid platitudes.
When you make swimsuit DLC and you don't even pick the good swimsuits.

We were supposed to get Nightwolf, not the silly skunk-lookin' bitch that he canon-nuked.
    Onimusha > DMC1

To DMC1's defense, the game was originally supposed to be something else at first, while Onimusha was what it was supposed to be from the start. I seriously can't pick either one of them above the other, they're very good games.

@ChaolanLegacy yeah pretty much, DMC1 was a early Resident Evil 4 build, before capcom halted development and decided to make 2 games instead.
It feels like people talk about this game more than they actually play it.

Well, doa5 was mostly a good game. Better than doa4 at least, and it came out at a good time where there wasn't a lot of other new fighting games. DoA6 landed with a bunch of controversy, with not so great mechanics and nerfs across the board, an awkward nerf to the one liked mechanic and its surrounded by way bigger titles released within the same timeline.

I play it but its mostly the same people on it. And the salty crew that kicks you after one win and you have to use an alt just to get your rematch then leave. I started playing tekken. I got bored with sfv and mk11. doa is just too easy to win in.

I have no idea what to think. DMC's development is weirdly secretive. I remember when DMC4SE came out, they said "If this doesn't sell well, this may be the end for DMC as a franchise." But it's obvious now that DMC5 was well into development at that time.
I don't like sidestep attacks costing meter, but I do like seeing the community sharing my frustration with the current state of affairs for a change.

Sidestep attacks now cost 25% of your meter.

Wow...This is why meter in DOA was a really bad idea. Its lazy as hell and really doesnt do anything to mitigate problems with the tracking system.
