Yeah, in Toronto, I only see hype from SF, Marvel, KOF and BlazBlue. Tekken very occasionally gets hype of the 3D fighters. I'm still trying to figure out why 3D fighters aren't more popular in comparison to 2D fighters.
Not sure why but 2D fighters are generally much faster than 3D fighters so that might be one of the reasons...and also since SF4 capcom basically revived the 2D fighting game era and a lot of companies are making 2D fighters. You would think it would be the opposite that 3D fighters would be more popular.
I've noticed, and can see how 2D fighters can be fun, especially if you have a stick, but they lack the more "realistic" look of fighting that 3D fighters have. Also crouch blocking to guard against about 95% of attacks feels silly.
Also 3D fighters can be a bit harder to pick up than 2D fighters. If someone were to try SF or Tekken they would have easier time with SF since you can learn someone's moveset in 5 min while 3D fighters it will take time.
A lot of mix ups and mind games revolve around certain cross ups and other tech. That might explain why most attacks can be guarded just by blocking low.
Yeah, I've noticed that most 2D players struggle to play games like DOA or SC properly due to the differences in the systems. 3D fighters can have pretty fancy shit in them too, and SCV has supers.
Indeed though I have seen a few do pretty well in 3D fighters despite coming from 2D fighting games. I don't mind playing either 2D or 3D fighters but nowadays people underrate 3D fighters.
SCV a lot of people love. And has supers and other good stuff.....Algol has moves that look like were designed for 2D fighters though lol.
