@Gruff757 I have considered this but I just find the stick really hard to use (tried it in the arcades) i.e. I couldn't do 236 or 214 moves at all T_T. I had little problem with the attack buttons though. Practice makes perfect I know, but I don't really like the feel of the stick tbh :\. Maybe that wears away over time with it more often?

Pretty much, I just started using it myself, and I feel more comfy with it than a pad now. Plus if you dual-mod it(which admittedly is costly but worth it in the end), you can play without worrying about converters.

Yeah I've heard that usually when people convert from a pad to stick they remain a stick user and can't/won't go back because they like it much more. Its an option I'll look into as well. Thanks Gruff757 ^^!

No problem, I can still play doa on ps3 pad though, I absolutely had to get my stick modded after trying to play on 360 pad.

A lot of people use arcade sticks, but honestly a hitbox is much better. You should see the wave dashes on tekken on them things. So good arcade stick users would call them broken lol.

But get whatever you want. You can get just a fight pad too since you like pads. Some Xbox 360 controllers have good d pads too. Hitbox is a much better investment. Be unique :)

haha I can imagine how people would feel a hitbox is broken having watched that video you showed me. I'm ok with a pad for now, although if and when I do play on a Xbox, I think a hitbox certainly does look interesting :)!

Thanks guys for the help! Didn't expect so much advice, but its definitely great to hear different viewpoints ^^!

Not all like arcade sticks and if you dont like using the stick you will have more problems down the road. Get what you like to use. If you like controller pads keep using them :)

Buffering motions is a good way to practice also you don't need to be precise with the motion as long a you press the button at the correct time. Meaning you can do 412369 but as long as you press P at 6 the move will ignore the extra inputs.

Yeah man if you looking for something else hitbox all the way. And much better if you dont like sticks. Dont strain your wrists when you can just use your fingers :)

But pad is good for you too. I KBD all day on pad lol.

Hmm perhaps I was doing it all wrong then with the stick XD. Next time when I get a chance to play with an arcade stick I'll take your tips on board to see if an arcade stick is for me or not :). I guess the first impressions can be daunting when its really not! However...

Hitboxes seem less intimidating to me for now. So as of now my initial thought is pad>hitbox>arcade stick. I may change my mind in the near future, but I really appreciate the input both of you have given me :D! Thanks to you both :)!

No problem. Glad you see it that way. Once you get a hitbox you will love it. Pad and hitbox is what I use and I know @SpellBound has one and would tell you it is great.

Yes, i play on stick and a hitbox. I feel that a hitbox is really really good, however, it does make you work.
Pros: allows you to have complete control over your movement
Directional inputs i.e. fireballs come out a bit faster.
Cons: Just learning how to use it. learning how to block and move around is the hardest thing to learn in my opinion.

Aha thanks for the input SpellBound :). Although a learning curve is to be expected from using such a different type of control system, I wouldn't mind giving it a shot if I had the device on hand.

Just curious, when you want to do say a fireball, do you press 2,6 or do you hold 2 then 6? And are hitboxes usually banned at tournaments? I don't know if I've heard that from somewhere before?
Gurimmjaw
Gurimmjaw
They aren't banned.

ok I thought I read that somewhere a long time ago hehe

Might have been a misunderstanding butonly thing similar was people wanting it banned which silly. It legitimate to use.

I love the design of the hitbox, it takes time to get used to tho.

Ok that's cool you should be right.

I honestly thought its strange why the direction buttons aren't set up like on a laptop/pc keyboard. Wonder why they chose this particular layout?
Gurimmjaw
Gurimmjaw
Not sure either but it sure works with that layout.

236. You basically plink the input. Its easier than it sounds.
I'm surprised I don't see more people in the 3D communities using them.
