I'm not that experienced in SF, but I have played around 2000 matches (I think) in MK9. (Those are from before I picked up DOA). I play those games and it just feels to me like there's barely any depth to them, like DOA has so much more to offer. That's what it feels like to -me-, anyway. Then again, the simpler things are usually the most popular. Take CoD and Halo for example.

I completly agree with you. MK is fun but it's only popular because of the gore and fatalities.

MK and SF are bigger well known names. 2D fighters seem to be more popular in general, at least from what I've noticed.

There is a LOT of depth involved in SF.. and there's depth involved in MK as well. People won't believe me when i say this, but MK is very footsie-based, something i feel Injustice was lacking.

Because there are a lot of depth in both MK and SF games that why. MK and SF are really big names so they will always be popular and plus they are 2D and 3D fighting games aren't really much popular in the FGC.

^ More or less.

SF does have a lot of depth to it along with meter-based features that make the matches seem more "hype", and like Nereus said, MK can be quite footsie based (watch any PL or Pig of the Hut match for instance). SF & MK unfortunately have more appeal to them and are a bit more mainstream than DOA.
