But in terms of how this game works, I still haven't don't know. I've watched so many tutorials, even did the tutorials on the game, yet I learned nothing out of em....like 5% maybe.
I know it's triangle system, I know about stuns, I know how to hold, throw, strike, that's kinda it, but as for like using what I know is a different story
Idk jack about frame data, idk, what type of stuns there are. And I suck in terms of set ups, ix ups, switching from defense to attack, stagger escaping, and holding and throwing at the right time.
Hmm... a large aspect about DOA is frame data and the metagame. Frame data can be looked up by turning on the Move Details from the Fight Info screen. You won't be able to play DOA properly if you don't understand frame data. SEing is necessary to reduce the duration of stuns, thus reducing the amount of advantage a character receives from it. Sitdown Stuns and Limbo stuns are the main 2 unholdable stuns.
Advantage means that you're at +frames and are able to attack first. Disadvantage means that you're at -frames and will have to take defensive action such as blocking. When you understand, Adv. & Disadv., you'll be able to understand the flow of a DOA match.
I don't really know where to begin with DOA or any fighter for that matter. Plus I'm not used to using the d-pad alot. Most fighting games I've played were Anime Fighters like the Naruto series
I saw Ads about the Hori Gem pad being on sale at radioshack so I called the nearest one, asked if they had one, they said they did, but they must have thought I was just talking about some other kind of controller. I went up there, but only controller I saw was the Nyko core controller so I bought it instead. I basically wasted $20 that I should've saved up for buying the full DOA game.
