It's not that I want to play VF, but I would at least like to play DOA5, which is much closer to VF than it's predecessor. As it stands without guard break setups and sitdown stuns I'm playing DOA4 with a VF character. Sorry but I think something's wrong with that.
VF characters never seemed to fit in DOA imo. Not gonna go as far as to say they shouldn't be in there, but their mechanics work very strange in DOA5's system (they'd fit worse in 4, but that's another issue entirely).
Maybe they're not doing what you want them to do because they know you'll have good set-ups against it. Take Eliot for example. He's usually very predictable (unless you have a good player behind him) but has some decent guard break capabilities. So why would one block instead of go for holds?
The opponent's job is to take you out of your element. It's be like me saying "need to find a way to get people not to pressure me to I can spam Izunas"
Understandable view, but mashing also has it's penalties against Akira due to his frame advantage moves, so it's not so much that I'm given a lot of trouble so much as I'm forced to play one aspect of the game 100% of the time because NO ONE respects my character enough to even attempt blocking.
Akira seems to use a lot of mid, eliminating my reliance on crushes. I usually block 2 strikes, then use 4P+K to reset. Not saying that'd work on you though. =P
