Honestly, didn't see today, don't know who won. (Illness lead to me passing out on my bedroom floor unexpectedly) I just am not sure why a single tournament is leading to such a reversal of all meaning and analysis.
I mean, not that I think the people who are saying she's high tier are crazy or anything like that. But it feels like it's a deluge of hostility without something specific.
Honestly CJ its nothing new, most good Helena players already knew her psuedo force techs, since black mamba already posted it on here. I guess now they just see how good it is. And im not trying to brag since i dont think im that good but i pretty much play the same way mamba does.
It's not like the idea of it is op or anything, it's just the fact that no one else has as great of an opportunity, except for the grapplers really, because they all have major floor slam moves.
I've said this a lot and I'll say it again: People are idiots. The potential for Helena's pressure game was realized early on. Mamba simply has demonstrated it to a very high potential, proving to a lot of idiots who claimed she was previously crap that she could indeed put up a very good fight. Now those idiots think that "If a bottom tier character can be so good, she must be broken/cheap!"
Busa has a low sweeping kick or punch i think. Gen fu is like Helena. Any time he lands that slamming punch, he gets a psuedo force tech just like Helena. Except her is a way better character than her. So if anyone is broken its Gen fu.
Not everyone who assume Helena doesn't have the best technical tools are idiots, though. A lot of those people have studied the crap out of the character. I mean, I am thrilled with how she can perform, and I think it speaks well for the game, actually. But I feel... like a heretic all of the sudden.
Ryu's 2H+K is a force tech. His 9K is also a pseudo-force tech. His 2P will roll an opponent, but will not force them up. His 3H+K will strike downed opponents, as will his reverse axe-kick.
Gen Fu's hasn't been shown in tournament play but the point is, it's broken in the since that there's SOOO many options in that guessing game. Hayate doesn't have great opportunities like that. His natural mid kick launcher can't slam down, for damage and the FT option
A lot of you guys really need to stop downplaying certain characters just because of what they have. It's not always about what the character has at this disposal. It's about how a player can use what their character has well enough and win.
