What about the CPU? I learn more from playing against the CPU than mashing buttons online.

You can only play against a CPU for so long before you need to play against someone that will make mistakes. I learned that in Smash.

Playing against the CPU will keep your combos fresh. And you can still practice fundamentals like fuzzy guarding, throw punishing, etc. which you can not do online.
