Most characters have really useless force techs. Fortunately for those like Hayate, he can still usually avoid the wake-up kick scenario with 7P+K.

That's not entirely true. A mid wake up kick can catch his back flip at tip range. Don't get me wrong, it'll completely crush a low kick but the wind dash cancel from that won't be quick enough and more importantly, the recovery on the naked flip is too much for anything.

You typically have enough time to execute it before the wake-up kick snags you though. Same for Ayane and Ryu,
