Two people who clearly knew nothing about DOA, acting stupid on commentary is extremely irrelevant compared to every other good bit that has happened for DOA last year (U.S. and Japan). No one cares about that.
People who "seriously" support DOA so much by attending things are not so concerned about one event we all know we barely have a shot getting into. Our goal is furthering the game's appearance everywhere we can, and ourselves while helping the community.
Ok this then? You don't want to play at EVO? It doesn't matter to you? You don't want your game, the shit you worked hard and made a career out of to be seen by the masses?
As far as I see, the only people getting so worked up about EVO are those that aren't doing anything, or everything they can to help expose DOA how they can.
Evan gave his Cali Crush tournament idea a shot. And guess what? What would normally be a tournament local turned into an official tournament major. That is huge for someone on their first try. That shows a lot.
You are really going overboard about this, man. You really are. For the record, if I did not care about a game I clearly love, I would left this community and stopped playing and not have bothered putting any kind of effort into anything.
I'm one of the hardest working players and community contributors in DOA since 2013. But it looks like all the blind anger you're displaying has rocked your memory, I suppose. Please have a good night.
If you don't care about being at EVO (which I think isn't true) then there's really nothing else to talk about. Keep on truckin man. Hopefully this thing gets to where you want it to be.
There are not enough players that would attend Evo. A "What if" isn't good enough, when we're getting low numbers at free tournament entries, and pot bonuses from Team Ninja and our community. But still nothing. Why would they throw us a bone?
We know Evo only care about 2D fighters, and Capcom games. Which means we don't only have to make noise, we have to force them to hear our scream. We've been doing a lot since Vanilla, successfully getting DOA5U into 2 majors (3 with cali crush) two years in a row. So yeah. We care. But not enough people do.
I think you guys are misinterpreting what I'm saying. I'm not saying you don't care about DOA. Everyone here does. We all do.
What I'm saying is that as much as I hate EVO its important. You guys say you want growth but say you don't care about the biggest tournament there is in the same breath. Doesn't make sense.
The tourneys you've been going to are great, but no one is watching. I think you had 400-800 for TFC? If you want growth you need to be in the thousands. More eyes on the tournament, means more new players. You guys know that.
With EVO, you have the guys who will sit in the DOA chat yelling "When's Marvel", but their eyes are still on the game. And I'm willing to bet more than a few of them secretly go out and start practicing some DOA. You guys are players, but knowing how that aspect of the game works is my area. Which is why I'm so disheartened when DOA is left out.
