yeah i'm on ps3. My main issue is the advice is usually just along the lines of "don't get hit" or "you need to figure it out". Which is infuriatingly useless advice.
You can hold in stun y'know. If you get stunned, learn how to stagger escape. If you're playing online, note that it's not representative of proper DOA5U play. I.e. Online is bullshit.
Well online is the ONLY DOA5U play I get, so...yeah lol. Also I hate the entire stagger escape system (Spend the entire match rotating the dpad!) Should just be something like "hold back/block" to reduce stun.
Also, I know you can hold in stun in THEORY. In practice, not so much lol. Either the holds wont come out, or I'm being caught in sit down stuns or critical stun or the mid isn't a mid even though its obviously a mid.
Well if you don't like how stagger escape is performed then that's tough. It's not difficult to do, just rotate in circles in a singular direction. I will also say that whining about online won't help your situation. What happens in DOA Online IS NOT reflective of proper play so you can't properly improve from only online. Offline is where improvement matters.
Advice for getting caught in stun: THINK I repeat THINK about what you are doing and what string you want to do before you do it. Not doing this just gets you lost. Throwing out your fastest moves ain't gonna do shit IF you're not using them "right".
Learn other characters' move lists. I don't know if you have core fighters or not, but if you have all characters, do command training with them all and learn their attributes (hit levels). This way if you get stunned, you'll know the follow-up to hold in a string.
DON'T PANIC HOLD WHEN YOU ARE IN STUN. Sometimes when you don't hold, SE or anything, people whiff throws and attacks because they are waiting you out to see if you hold or not. If you don't while they are waiting, they WILL, WILL miss their follow-ups because you've fallen and teched up by then.
(Don't do the above all the time.) Sometimes you're just gonna have to risk that little combo, rather than trying to hold and get Izuna'd. Try and hold the launcher and or the CB if you can. If you don't know their move lists, this the best way imo.
i usually let myself fall once i realize i dont know the correct hold, both so they'll whiff, and to get a chance to mount from downed state. I have Core Fighters so I need to Dojo with people to learn enemy moves sometime.
ALSO, just saying "online doesn't matter, only offline does", doesn't help. I don't HAVE any offline play, only online. So instead, I have to learn how to cope with online limitations, and work around them.
Arcade mode on Legend. It's legitimate. LEGIT. I didn't have access to online until DOA5U, and I got to the level I am at now with Zack. (Got to 2nd place in Ultimate Clash 4 with the vs. COM experience) Imagine how the UK Guilty Gear players feel, lol.
Don't be afraid to lose. Don't get angry when you do, try to keep your composure and think about what you did wrong and when the time comes to fight them again, beat the shit out of them with a different playstyle. This works for online and offline.
Playing the Level 8 AI I find is better than playing online and getting frustrated. I learn very little online in comparison to offline because NOTHING works properly online.
@Cr!msonWarrior Doesn't the AI still just read your inputs, though? And like I've said, I don't get mad when I lose, I rage when I can't control my character. I'll try the AI.
We should play together, sometime. Add me on PSN("kohlrak"). I think we have the same problems, and you loose most of your matches, don't you? If so, we're on the same level, and i have an idea on how to get ourselves out of this rut.
The AI doesn't "read" your inputs any different than a high level player would read you. If you're getting "read", you'd need to mix up your offense more (or read what the AI is doing).
I can do high poke, mid poke, low poke, and then get held at an attempted mid poke. What makes it worse if when i do blocking in between, so it's obviously reading inputs, because we don't make video game AI nearly as smart as high level players, unless you want to have the honors of calling them stupid.
