And don't forget the ringouts lol. VF5:FS actually isn't that much more complex than DOA5 all things considered. It's just complex in different ways when you factor in stuff like half circulars and side hits.
@Force_of_Nature it's completely different ground complexity wise from DOA, but I'm enjoying playing the game. I haven't played it since 2008 because I lost my vanilla copy, but I'm rediscovering my love Pai and Lei Fei's fighting styles, and rebuilding myself up to the point that I was when I last played. Even @KokobaeBeAKilla was nice enough to play a few rounds with me:-)
There's still people playing it, but they usually host private rooms. Depends on what system you're on too. PSN has a decent amount of players, but they're usually in ranked and spam a lot. On XBl most people play in rooms. The netcode's also more stable there, too.
Best way to get matches is to go on VFDC and ask around for matches. You can find someone there more often than not.
The ground game is indeed different with the largest difference I noticed being that DOA5LR has forced techs and VF5FS doesn't. However opponents tend to tech more in VF5FS leading to a greater usage of meaties on wakeup. Pai & LeiFei (in particular) have considerably complex fighting styles; they are indeed fun to use.
