I remember we once had this discussion in the casual thread about Helena being the rolemodel for gay men.

In my opinion it's the because of the abundance of strong female characters and female main character alike

Out of all fighting games, I notice that DOA also seems to have the highest proportion of female players. Likely for the aforementioned reason, which is ironic since I'd think the game would alienate female gamers with the gross fanservice (though there are some characters like Kasumi or Kokoro that could appeal to females).
