Vanilla was extremely brutal, even on the easier difficulties. Shadow Kanji was the game killer for many with his stupid freaking henchmen.

Plus SP refills are rare as hell in P4 vanilla so alot of the time I had to just do floors until I ran out of SP or got the mini boss/boss and come back the next day so I had full SP.

I guess I'd only be playing the original if I wanted a challenge. I can't even take time to play Golden on Very Hard mode.

Me as well as @Forlorn Penguin and @samuraihachi talk about the game a lot too. P4G is really good and tons better than the PS2 version. I am still missing 1 more trophy for Platinum which is the Social Link All Max on one playthrough. I always said I would attempt it but forget to play the damn game.

I see there's a lot of Persona fans on here. lol You really got that Rise trophy? I have no idea why it's taking me so long. lol Only found out at the beginning of my 5th save that it all had to heard in 1 playthrough. I should have the Social Link trophy in a matter of days though once I get that Rise one.

Yesssss I love Persona too. P3FES and 4 are on my top jrpg list. I personally had a more difficult time with 3 cause of fatigue and the stupid AI -_- but I liked 3's story more. Can't wait for Persona 5!!!! The hype is real lol

^Right! I just hope Persona 5 is p2/p3 dark and not as upbeat as 4 felt!

What's wrong with upbeat? P4 is awesome lol.

Nothing is wrong with upbeat. P4G is the best out of all the Persona games lol. BUT, we've had P4G, P4A, P4AU, PQ, and P4DAN since Persona 4 which are all cannon and have upbeat vibe(I assume P4DAN will...waiting on the U.S release). A change in pace is welcomed!

Persona 3 had a memorable story. In the past, I felt 3 had a better story. After multiple playthroughs in P4, the story grew on me and allowed me to uncover most of the deeper plots as well as the link from within the series. Favorite characters in 3 was Shinji, Mitsuru and Koromaru. While 4 is Yu, Yukiko, Kanji & Adachi.
DestructionBomb
DestructionBomb
Difficulty-wise, 3 was slightly harder. Although the game becomes moderately easier if you run a party of 2-3 characters instead of the maxed group due to the EXP sharing between the characters is splitted more, so it takes a longer time to get specific levels.

Regarding the story between 3 and 4. Now I cannot choose which one I liked the most. Hopefully 5 can be better or equivalent to those two.

Whoa, what is it with everyone saying P4 is upbeat? I never got that feling at all.... There is ALOT of serious moments in P4 as well maybe just as much as P3, but I guess it's because Persona 4 Golden added alot more cutscenes and stuff like the music gig? wtf was that about lol. Also, it's not like P3 wasn't exactly happy go lucky either that gamne has a ton of silly and slapstick moments in it.

If anything #FE is the most happy go lucky SMT game I've ever seen lol.

@Yuna jusging from the information we have and the two PVs Persona 5 is going back to it's Shin Megami Tensei roots of Persona 1 & 2, also the overall tone seems to be a little more depressing than P3/P4.

After playing P4G so many times, I'd have to say P3FES is my favorite because I liked the story and characters a bit more. Not to mention it having 2 of my favorite characters in games in general, Mitsuru and Makoto. Along with Shinji. Can't forget him. But, overall I liked more of the cast than I did P4's who my favorites were Naoto and Rise too.
L
LightSonic
I liked Yu, Adachi, Yosuke, Margaret and Marie as well, but not as much.

@UpSideDownGRUNT P4 did have it's moments but when you look at it after all the problems were done, the characters kept a more upbeat/happy mood compared to the ones in P3 when you look at Shinji, Mitsuru who never really joked around, Ken in the beginning, Junpei later on, and even the protagonist himself. Then there's The Fall and Strega.

I'm hoping P5 has a more serious mood through the game too. From the looks of it though I'm getting a feeling it will be more serious than P4's overall mood, but not as much as P3. Whether it's more depressing or upbeat, I'm sure I'll still enjoy it like I did P4. I really like the whole vigilante theme they have going.

P5 is definitely going back to roots of P1&2, but it's still got thing we know and love from P3/4.

I just hope they expand on P4G's battle system from what I have seen of P4G it seems to be the best of the series yet.

LightSonic
I hope P5 does something new with the gameplay. It was cool how each game did something different with it.
