@Lulu They were friends once, but Ayane found out something dark that connected her to Kasumi and Hayate by blood. She's hated her ever since, and like @Force_of_Nature said, she wants Kasumi dead....well idk if she does now in DOA5

and by the way you are wrong kasumi left the village to avenge hayate then omega aka genra ordered ayane to kill kasumi because she broke the code of the shinobi and ayane isn't planning on killing kasumi because ayame said to ayane to be kasumi's friend instead of her enemy and ayane had the chance in 4 to kill kasumi but she protected kasumi from the explosion of the doatec tower

@Dark-truth What I said about the story happened before she left the village. Ayane was already at odds with her even before she left, she just now has permission to kill her because she ran away. They were friends when they were little though

That's what I meant by "duty calls". Ayane was ordered to execute Kasumi. And you know the rules of the Mugen Tenshin. If you disobey, you get killed.

Why couldn't Kasumi have just asked for permission? I'm sure her father would allow it. Ayane would still hate her, but wouldn't be trying to kill her at least

Shiden wouldn't approve it and didn't shiden knew about Kasumi leaving the village genra was leader of the haijinmonsect and shiden of the tenjinmon sect they had a connection

It was Genra who sent Ayane after her. Shiden didn't want her killed, but the code of shinobi is strict.
