Ironically Uncharted 1 has the hardest "Crushing" mode of the 3 games despite the most straightforward campaign.

I agree with you. Uncharted 2, however, is awesome on Crushing. Anyone else planning to start Uncharted 4 on Hard or Crushing?

Uncharted 2 has the best, most balanced campaign period. I'm playing Uncharted 4 on Hard. Crushing is too much of a "get hit hide, or get hit twice, die". Better to go through that when I already know the enemy layouts.
