For example, is it okay to spectate a adolescent sparring with someone in a martial arts dojo? Yes.
Is it okay to perv on a adolescent by peeking while they are undressing? No.

The "Marie is not an adolescent" argument will not work in this context, obviously, since the associative assumption was made for your initial comparison as well.

There's a difference between a friendly spar and the shit the characters go through in DOA, a huge difference.

The appearance of a person you fight is mostly happenstance, since it's either fight the person in front of you or have them beat the shit out of you (it is a fighting tournament, after all).

Lecherously demanding someone remove their clothes in front of you while you peak at them is entirely imposed by you and your sexual preferences, with no repercussions should you not impose on them in this way.

I was being charitable with the comparison, since at least the medium in DOAX3 serves to that. In DOA5, the point is (allegedly) fighting. It's socially acceptable to have underage people sparring in a fighting tournament. It's less socially acceptable to have them doing so in a deliberately sexualized outfit.

If you don't see how those differ in intent, that's your own shortcoming. But don't claim it's a double-standard when the two avenues are tied to very different criteria based on understood differences.

Your original "point" is akin to: "Bah, double standards! It's okay to watch pro wrestling but it's not okay to streak in public."

Again, this isn't "sparring", no matter how much you want to say otherwise. I don't see sparring when you can break peoples' limbs with moves, knocking people feet across rooms, and knocking them into Danger Zones.

And it's not a shortcoming when it's only Values Dissonance overall. And the main reason why it's more okay to have people who look like kids get beaten up but not okay to sexualize them despite it being pretty ridiculous.

If DOA and any other fighting game is like Karateka, I would agree with you otherwise, but they aren't.
