End of this month but I agree. He's my favorite part of the new game. Honestly not sure how you were underwhelmed after that ending, but everyone's different. I need some new achievements to unlock since I have everything else done.
Well, comparing it to the final fight of DMC3, it was way easier, the location was not nearly as impressive, the music was less impressive, Vergil+Dante look lamer, both their combos/movement appealed less and... well, that's pretty much it. It was a good fight but to me it just felt like an inferior version of DMC3's final boss fight.
I'd go the other way on all of those things. This was a pretty polarizing game though. People either felt it was the best in the series or the second worst after 2 lol. Nobody has said it's worse than 2 yet, so that's pretty telling.
Personally I'd probably go DM3 > DMC4 > DmC > DMC1 > DMC2 with DmC & DMC4 being very close.
But I guess it comes own to personal taste. Good luck finding someone with the personal taste that 2 wasn't the worst in the series, though lol
My first playthrough was on Normal. I then went straight to SoS, then DmD, HoH, HaH, and finally back to Nephilim to SSS all the levels and close the game out. My last achievement actually came after all that though. Five thousand demons was a bit of a grind. My favorite difficulty was Dante Must Die though. Just felt right. It was too easy on the others.
I'd go DmC > DMC3>DMC4>DMC1>DMC2 personally. Three was great, but certain parts just dragged on so I had some issues with the pacing. DmC felt pretty much perfect on that front and I didn't really miss lock on or the more frequent boss battles.
I didn't miss the frequency of DMC3's boss battles (that graveyard gauntlet was just annoying) but I did appreciate the design of 'em a bit more. They all had unique ways to be fought, whereas DMC every boss felt like a "Angel Pull to glowing spot, smash, pull something with demon pull, repeat" sorta deal except Vergil.
I do intend to go through it twice more and beat DMD, though.
