I mentally run through every possible contingency I could incite and predict how each would unfold. If a plausible course of catharsis presents itself, it is pursued. Otherwise, knowledge/comprehension of the situation and my emotional state is sufficient.
Doing martial arts for over 6 years now has taught me using external methods only damages the individual more. Rage management has to be a personal and mental process, reactive, calculated. Take a deep breath, internalize and dissect the reason for your rage, realize that, that reason is utterly meaningless and trivial to your life and then grow from the experience.
