Skullgirls is a great 2d, but if you want some actual great 2D fighters try KoF 2000, or Last Blade 2. Garou: Mark of the wolves is also coming to ps4 later so be sure look into that game as well.

Eh, KoF is not really my bag. I'm a Guilty Gear player mainly, but I feel like if I played SG first I'd have an easier time.

Persona 4 Arena is what got me into 2D. Helped that I knew the source material at the time, ArcSys games tend to be decent from what I've played of them want to try out Revelator eventually and A BlazBlue game

I'm always up to play Revelator whenever. I wish I could have played Persona, but unfortunately picked S. Labrys and dropped the game. I suggest Revelator, but I'm biased. I've played all three though.

To get into 2D fighters, SF is the best overall for your first 2D fighter due to its well-roundedness and relative-straightforwardness. P4A is cool if you like Persona and is a bit more casual friendly. KOF is a decent choice also but can be a bit more challenging to play than something like SFIV or SFV. Skullgirls does have a good tutorial though.

I actually find KOFXIV far more accessible and easier to play than SSIVAE, though that might be due to the rush button. I couldn't get into SSIVAE at all, despite liking Sakura and Makoto

KOFXIV would be comparable with SFV. SFIV is comparable with KOFXIII. The sequels are easier overall.
