Balance patches are usually not game changing unless it's new moves that applies deeply into the game mechanics which is rare, or game mechanics in general related. Even if Helena received new things, still might have to apply it to the core game like how it always was.

It's understandable. I'm just now finding stuff for Akira but there will be a point where there isn't really anything to discovery besides playing. The best thing about it is that you can still play the game, which is something you can't really get bored of until you take a break from it.

There is always new stuff to find, always. There's 34 characters in this game, soon to be 35. That means there are 35 ways of playing with your main.

Focus on trying to perfect Helena instead. Tech discovery and actually mastering a character aren't one in the same. I find new ways to play Ayane whenever I explore her in the lab. The depth in DOA5LR goes pretty far. Good luck!
