honestly, From what i've seen, DOA has already a very solid foundation, so minor changes is the best, while MKX is a complete unbalanced mess, so complete overhauls are expected.
actually lemme back track, i'd like to see exciting changes for characters with glaringly obvious problems (alpha lack of WU options, Bass/nyo lack of speedy mids), but for mkx style let's basically remake every character regardless of how good/bad they are, That's what im more against
Characters are often left as is because they are actually fine as they are. Players need to spend a lot more time learning how to do everything with their character instead of wishing/waiting for changes. Changes do not make you a better player.
Akira players first week didn't like the 3P+K Akira change and I'm around kicking ass without it because his game doesn't revolve around one move, like come now.
@Sotherius you think mkx is an unbalanced mess, be glad you didn't play mk9. but for all that games' jankiness (80% combos and kabal 2 name a few), i actually like it more than mkx. then again i prefer NG2 to NGS2 so maybe im just a fan of jank :)
Injustice was an unbalanced mess (somewhat), at least FGs these days have the glory days to get updates. Back in CvS2, there were no such thing as patch notes. That was the raw game itself with 7 characters taking the spot of most used characters because they have potential to blow rosters.
sadly i never played enough injustice to see if it was as imbalanced as people said (picked it up again in lieu of Injustice 2) but you are so right about old fighting games, the prime example of that for me will always be marvel 2
