1) I know he shares the same voice actor as Captain Ginyu and Phoenix Ikki. I also know he was at his Sunday best in Ninja Gaiden Black.
2) I like how he's come a long, long way from old-school Ninja Gaiden to his modern self having a connection to the DOA series. I dislike that there aren't more remixes of old-school Ninja Gaiden music being taken advantage of for his character themes.
1) I know his character and story in the DOA games, and I know a bit of trivia from NG reboot. I consider him a separate character from the NES Ryu, kind of like Link is not always the same in every Zelda game.
I do want to play NG really bad, but I wonder if the Sigma ports on the PS3 are good or not.
2) I love everything about him. His calm and mysterious personality, his beautiful original DOA designs (like DOA2's p1 and the extra outfit from DOA3), his amazing, elegant, violent fighting style. I like the fact that he is a pro and that he deals with much bigger threats than everybody else, like DOA is only a side job for him.
Yes, he also is incredibly handsome. His pretty eyes and beautiful hair just add to his over all character, due to the contrast between his looks and his actions.
Did I also mention he has nice legs...? Or his calm and soothing JP voice? (Prior to DOA5)
Ryu is among my n. 1 husbandos for a reason.
He is so cool. Man, I love him. There is no better DOA character for me. He also fun to play as even if hard to use (I suck as fighting games). I wish they gave him some casual outfits.
He is just teh best.
I do dislike some things: his lack of win poses in DOA5 (all samey too), how angry they made him sound in DOA5, Troy Baker's crappy dub, his character in DOAD.
Remember how in DOA2 he set out to find Kasumi? He stopped her but he still was calm and collected, mature and wise.
DOAD, he bitchslaps her and is angry. Fucking lame my friend, there goes his mystique. At least it looks funny.
(likes) It's cool that he has his own adventure missions (NG series!) that aren't terrble. Character design is on point and he isn't some cheesy boring lame ass ninja who makes me cringe.
Despite the fact that he's a good hero like Batman, this dude doesn't show no mercy when it comes beaten up/slicing his opponents (just look how the bad guys gets annihilated on NG!).
@Hayabusiness NGS1 is probably the best out of the three, where each of the difficulty increases are actually making the game harder. NGS2 is ok, hardest difficulty is rather annoying than hard, online co-op action (mission mode) is probably the best part of the game since you can play with all the 4 playable characters freely.
Haven't played NG3:RE (want to play it in the future though), but from what I saw gameplay wise overall, I think NGS1 beats it. They are very good, but for NG1 and 2 I'd recommend the Xbox versions.
NG3:RE is my personal favorite, just because it expands so much on Ryu's moveset. And it has a lot of to do in it. I hate Ninja Gaiden 2 on the xbox 360, and i never played the sigma games, Ninja Gaiden Black is really awesome, but it is really slow compared to 2 and 3:RE.
Well, i can tell what i know for a fact.
Sigma 1 vs Black: Is almost the same, but there is some difference's in ryu's moveset, the most notable one is being able to shoot arrows while jumping and starting water running from swimming. Rachel chapters added, which most people hate, and it seems to also have slower loading times in general.
