@Camel with 2 thumbs I've heard people say both those things.... its usually the same thing.
@Sotherius
I've heard close to 10 people use that Description multiple times now. I bring it up because, lets say you're reading/watching a review.... is it fair for the reviewer to Score the game lower because he encountered one part that felt "Gamey" ?
so, you're saying that reviewers use that word, to reffer to stuff in games that are from games, and for that reason, the game gets a lower score? Man, this sounds really stupid, but again, game reviewers are not a good source in any way.
In the Review he kept pointing out the usual Ludonarrative Dissonance Stuff of Lara Being a Character who just wants to survive and the game being about Total Domination in Fire Fights
This is nothing new, people bitch about this kinda thing all the time.
What really stood out to me was when he implied that The Problem should be rectified by Changing the Gameplay to fit the narrative, instead of doing it the other way around.
Basically because Lara's lame and weak in the narrative he wants the gameplay to be lame and weak too.... just so the whole thing makes sense.
In my experience "video gamey" is used to describe something that's representative of old video game design. For example, in the latest DS3 dlc, the final boss has 3 forms, bosses with multiple form was something that was popular back in the snes/genesis era of gaming, so some might say the final boss of the DS3 dlc has a very video gamey feel to it
