@Forlorn Penguin I remember that. First you had to beat the game with everyone else to unlock Helena. Then you had to beat story mode with Helena to unlock SPARTAN, then you had to beat Time Attack mode with everyone in the roster to unlock Bankotsubo. Tedious as hell.
Fighting Alpha in this feels like having all the game mechanics that are there get thrown completely out the window
Also are there invulnerability frames after unsafe attacks to throws in this?? I can't low throw a char after teching a ground stomp attempt and it makes no sense
That would be really bizarre because someone like Kokoro is low enough to the floor after that she's almost lying on it yet my low throws don't connect.
I'm really having a tough time with this after being used to DOA5...and a better d-pad
Well, I didn't know what characters you were referring to. I'm not sure why it's whiffing.
The dpad on the standard 360 controllers is shit. You could get one of the ones with the silver transforming dpad, or you can probably put the dpad of an original Xbox controller S in the 360 controller.
Maybe it was throw range? Idk. Was Zack vs Kokoro and it happened I think 3 times since every time she'd 66T she'd follow up with a ground stomp.
And yeah I really really hate this d-pad. I have to switch my thumb to the analog stick to be able to high hold only when I'm on the left side of the screen. And somehow half my 4 inputs on the left side come out as lows.
ALPHA's sole existence in DOA4 is increase the amount of broken controllers in households. I think a mistake you're making is trying to play DOA4 legitimately.
It could be throw range, yeah. You're definitely not invincible after whiffing ground attacks. I can absolutely confirm that, since I mained Bankotsubo, who's gameplay largely revolved around his ground attack and in some weird situations, it had the tendency to whiff, which naturally meant I got thrown.
I remember little me playing Kasumi's story mode and then being like "waow that was difficult but alpha lookd so kewwwl! i want to see zack's jelly clone!" played as Zack's story, expected a different clone to come out but it was just jelly Kasumi again and i was so disappointed.
Oh snap forgot about this, you know what else too? Brad Wong was actually not that great on DOA4 either since he couldn't punish you for low holding without he himself getting punished for trying to punish you. On top of the fact that low holds were super fast and he was super slow. Bayman also didn't have a true punish throw either.
