they're pretty much Visual Novels where you figure out clues and find out who the killer is.

Like Grunt said, UDG nothing like the other games. It is by far the worst one too and has spoilers for the first game, which is pretty fantastic.

I'd definitely recommend putting UDG on hold and playing through 1 and 2 first.

so ultra despair girls is the weirdo spin-off that plays nothing like the original series, and the original series is a VN? guess im not playing the original series then lol (can't stand visual novels), yeah i;ll be spoiling the story for myself, but i don't care too much about that. There's an anime as well, is it an adaptation of the games or what?
