i don't think anyone thinks it's a fighting game, it basically occupies the same space dark souls does, 3rd person game with a a deep melee combat engine that supports 1 v 1 fights, and alot of people are focusing on the 1 v 1 aspect
@Camel with 2 thumbs
I've encountered two reviews and one blog that describe Absolver as the Dark Souls of Fighting Games. And they're leaning really hard into it comparing it to the likes of Street Fighter and Tekken.
The only way Absolver can be a fighting game is if you Min Max your Character all the way to the level Cap and only fighting against other players who have done the same.
Failure to do that will result in Outcomes in Combat will depend on whos got more Stats... essentially the fights over before it even begins.
@DestructionBomb
LoL... 90% of modern games are Fighting Games if you follow that Statement to its Logical Conclusion.
@Crazy_Chin_Guy
True.... But you missed my point. The primary focus of Absolver has more in common with RPGs than it does with... well any competive game. Absolver's designisn't competitive enough to sit with the like of Sports Games... let alone Fighting Games.
Its actually another Dark Souls clone like: Ni-Oh, Bloodbnorne, The Surge, Lords Of The Fallen, etc.
You get the idea, its gotta Stamina Manaement, a Shitty Save Sysem, Grinding and Ubiquitous Multiplayer. All things you would expect to to see in Dark Souls.

@Lulu dude you're savvy enough about videogames not to pay any mind to what these games journalists have to say, sheit it was just a couple weeks ago professional game review site gamesrader compared the new crash to dark souls because new crash is hard, this is the level of critique that passes as professionalism these days
