Depends what character you play as and how the Bass player is playing. If he throws after the pick up, obviously just attack. But if her attacks, best option is to sidestep twice normally, except for when he does that low punch. But of course its really just a guessing game.

I'm mostly playing Kokoro. Its quite annoying because one mistake and I can just basically get chained to death without any way to counter attack.

Is there any way to directly counter the pick up itself at all?

Tech roll before hitting the ground.

Yeah its a pain fighting him. If you know his strings that end with a slam, those are the ones you have to tech roll. Most are mid punches i think. Most Bass players like to spam out that mid kick mid punch (Slamming punch), into the pick up. Even if you tech roll, your at negative four frames i think, so your still punch into a guessing game, but a easier one.

Bass is cheap!! -_- spam the mess out of him.

@Brute: That's terrible advice given that Bass has guaranteed setups with the pick up. And his question is what to do after the pickup. And really your best bet is to just back dash away. You're -10 so its pretty much a toss up on your options there. Back away and try to avoid the follow up or take a swing at what he's going to do and try to hold it.

Side stepping is more or less a waste of time as well considering several of Bass' options track. It's a mix up in his favor, so you're just going to have to learn to read the players habits.

It's not terrible advice because:
1) Not every time Bass goes for it it's guaranteed
2) There is no advice to give against guaranteed set-ups. Let's run a counter-example: He says "Is there any way to counter the Shoho Izuna itself?" I say: "Mid-punch hold," and then you say "That's terrible advice given that Ryu had guaranteed set-ups with the Shoho."

3) Your troll-face avatar is very fitting because that's all you ever do.

If I'm going for a pick up that means I did a guaranteed knockdown. Any other time to go for a pick up is sheer stupidity unless I see my opponent just simply not tech rolling. So yes, in general if someone is doing Bass pick up, they are doing the guaranteed knockdowns.

As usual Brute you show how much of scrub you truly are.

He did say "online," not offline where you are usually fighting pro players who know frame data and can actually execute set-ups reliably in the absence of lag.

Again, you seem to think I give a fuck about your superficial opinions.
