    Team Ninja Twitter

The Ninja Gaiden Vita game is, at its core, just another remake of the first Xbox Ninja Gaiden. Don't know why they would need to go into depth with that one, when there's still so many questions about NG3 that either haven't been answered, or could certainly use more clarification. Anyway...

DOA5 Is "Not Looking to be a Technical Fighter"

This is true. And this is something I don't think the trolls on SRK's frontpage quite get. I'm still looking forward to seeing what Team Ninja has in mind, but these comments still just leave me scratching my head.

VG247: Dead or Alive 5 to “push the genre” into next-gen territory

Similar can be said at the likes of GAF, as well. (Though I don't think this particular story has found its way over there yet.) In fact, I'd be also willing to bet that the backlash against Ninja Gaiden 3 wouldn't be but SO bad if Hayashi and Team Ninja kept their yaps shut. It seems like the...

VG247: Dead or Alive 5 to “push the genre” into next-gen territory

If they could do something akin to how some boss fights in "Bayonetta" worked out, that indeed would be something interesting to see. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e6Dmt2MMeYQ To clarify, the fights between Bayonetta and Jeanne have easily what I think to be some of the best "DOA-style"...

VG247: Dead or Alive 5 to “push the genre” into next-gen territory

That much would already be something. After all, TTT2 shifts between HD and sub-HD, even on the beefier System 369 arcade hardware that's even more powerful than the PS3. So it should go without saying what's in store once that game gets its console ports.

    Character Customization

LMAO, seriously? I mean, it did strike me kind of odd, as Furukawa is still noted as being an active VA in reasonably good health, yet we had to be stuck with Canna for Dimensions. I'm hoping Furukawa will be back to doing the role again for DOA5, as Canna just couldn't do the WAAATAAAAAH!'s...

    Character Customization

Actually, Jann Lee's VA in that game (Toshio Furukawa) was Shin in the original HnK anime. Come to think of it, the DOA roster is/was filled with a number of HnK personalities. Even Daisuke Gori (Bass' former VA, RIP) was Uighur in the original anime. It always made me smile, knowing that DOA...

Do you think we'll see more "2D Fighter" aspects in DOA5?

Well, I would still think it may be better to at least have an "expert mode" where such can be turned off, to say the least. I mean, the goal with DOA5 is to ideally have a game that can be taken a competitive-viable game, correct? If the MK devs saw the value of dispensing with them for MK9...

Do you think we'll see more "2D Fighter" aspects in DOA5?

Well, don't forget the on-screen button prompts. If you've already taken the time to learn something like the Izuna Drop "manually", is there really a need to give it an on-screen prompt, as well? (Or at least, outside of training mode?) But all that aside, QTEs, when done wrong/excessively...

Do you think we'll see more "2D Fighter" aspects in DOA5?

What I mean, for example, is that for Soulcalibur V, Project Soul has definitely cited more than a couple "SF4-isms" (meter management, EX Attacks, cinematic supers, etc.). Could we be seeing DOA5 going down a similar route, with "Power Blows" being only the tip of the iceberg? At this point...

    Character Customization

Don't forget Busa. Unmasked, the guy looks quite a bit more serious and less "bishie" than he did in past games (especially in the art for NG: DS).

    Character Customization

Going along with the choir at this point, but I would probably be happier with something akin to VF's way handling things. Especially if it was a means to get some of those older costumes back from DOA's history, and maybe even make some nice alterations.

    Ask Team NINJA

Honestly? Given what Hayashi and the new NG team have shown thus far with NG3, even that much may be something worth calling into question, now. Anyway, I'm willing to wait until we see more regarding DOA5. For right now, I'm just taking the Pre-Alpha footage as "proof of concept"...

    Ask Team NINJA

Ah. I just remembered reading how Wah "approved" of the questions being sent and assumed this was some type of collaboration effort, or what-have-you.

Are these the same questions that have been sent from DOAW, or another set altogether...?

WIll they add a training mode as rich as Capcom's have been?

Is that so? Very interesting. I guess that's just more proof positive that Itagaki may be a great action game developer, but his ethics relating to fighting games was always something that was dubious. On another note, Wah, do you have a NeoGAF account or stand to get one? When the hype train...

WIll they add a training mode as rich as Capcom's have been?

I wouldn't mind returning back to the DOA1/++ style of holding, provided I get much more in the way of explanation than I did when I played it for the first time on a friend's Saturn way back in the day. But hey, as long as it's going to remain a crux of the DOA style? They might...

WIll they add a training mode as rich as Capcom's have been?

Yep. In the end, there are two main things that are crucial for the continued prosperity of the fighting game genre: 1) Netcode and the continuing research to refine the means to make it better. 2) Tutorials, which are not only a means to help refine skills from the established base, but help...

Ono: "[Companies] need to continuously provide fans with information."

They would kind of have to at this point, wouldn't they? When even SNK and Atlus saw the merit (re: need) of showcasing KOFXIII at the likes of EVO and Otakon this last year, and KOF is pretty niche at this point, an arguably "bigger name brand" like DOA can't afford to not follow Capcom...
