A lot of people are calling Kokoro a Top 5, S tier character. Let's examine this assignment.
Starting at the bottom, she isn't garbage like Marie Rose and Honoka, and nobody plays Phase4 so I don't really know where to put her. This puts Kokoro in at least C tier range.
Moving on to the...
Helena hard counters Kokoro, I realized that she can duck EACH OF KOKORO'S TRACKING MOVES. You can't throw out true mids or lows because they lose to sidestep and have shitty range, and you can't throw tracking moves because she can duck them.
That sounds like it might be a little too strong, I think it would be more fair if they made one of the strings that goes into heichu track, since right now none of them do (PP, P2K, 9PP, 2KHPK, 8PHPK, etc.)
I agree with pretty much everything you said here. The main issue here is that sidesteps don't affect each character equally. Some characters are having an identity crisis to deal with sidesteps, while others can throw out the same moves they usually do because they still work.
My bad about the demo lobbies, I heard from someone that they were in there but I was misinformed.
I'd imagine being able to play against certain players and having basic fighting game functionalities has a lot to do with making your game viable for eSports. I get that game development can be...
It's hard for people to take you seriously when you say you want to be a "serious eSport fighting game" when you can't even get lobbies into your game until a month after launch. They aren't reinventing the wheel, you don't need a Rosseta Stone to decipher the long lost art of lobby systems...
It's getting a little ridiculous at this point, I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and wait two weeks for them to iron out any bugs but now we have to wait an entire month for a feature any self-respecting fighting game comes out with at the START. It's like buying a car but...
March 15th and STILL no lobbies. I've been trying to get my friends to play this game but they are too busy laughing at me for playing a fighting game without lobbies on release. This is some basic shit KT. With the release of Core Fighters it is the perfect time to put in lobbies so new players...
From what I've tested on PC the only characters with new intros/outros are: Kasumi, Marie Rose, Hitomi, and Bass. Either that or I'm just extremely unlucky and not getting any of the interactions to show up.
OK so I just watched Xcaliburbladez style on some Hayabusa in some tournament as Kokoro and it was very interesting to see how he played. It seemed like once he landed one move on Kokoro the next few were basically guaranteed, which never happens in my experience online. He likes to use heichu...
Damn interesting I really wish they would have gone into detail why they think Kokoro is so strong. They make it seem like it's obvious but from my experience nothing about her is particularly good.
Links to these quotes? The only high level player I've seen using Kokoro is YinCrescent and I don't think he ever said anything about her being super strong.
Powerblows were only useful for guaranteed damage after critical bursts or for cheesing people when it was laggy, it was just a gimmicky tool that didn't really have any practical use. Don't know how you can think that system was better than the meter/BB system because:
1. There is now a...
Yeah, someone on Reddit summed it up pretty well. "To win with Kokoro just give up on all your character's strengths and try to win with better fundamentals."
