Sadly there isn't mate. There are only two difficulty settings; normal & hard, even on hard setting, if you're spotted the game keeps going until you're either killed or manage to hide somewhere long enough for the alert phase to die down. Haha i actually turn the volume down & play DoA5U with my music on most of the time. Never gets old watching Hayabusa performing Izuna Drops to the Heart of Courage theme from Two Steps From Hell. But when i do rarely play it with the volume up i have it in Japanese.

Yeah i am in agreement with you guys on the time skip thing & i think the same applies to every fighting game. If you're going to alter the game or take it into a new direction, i personally don't think fast forwarding the characters age or removing iconic characters is the way to go about it...
