Well according to the wiki: "A queen type character who is extremely sadistic, however she has an abundance of feelings for her underclassmen and is a motherly figure amongst the girls." Sure Helena isn't sadistic, but as a queen type character and a motherly figure, for sure Helena fits the bill.

I think that TN are reluctant to change the appearance of their poster girl too much. Also Kasumi's hair isn't all that dissimilar to Asuka.

Haruka is a refined, classy, statuesque blonde. Helena is the closest character in personality to Haruka and shares some physical similarities, so I fail to see how this is a random match up.

Was pretty certain Lisa (as an actual scientist) would get that outfit. Now I really wonder what Lisa will get. Hikage has a snake theme, a love of knives and a cold, seductive personality. I think Christie would be much more suitable.

I wouldn't call the soft skin a sham. Just look at those Hitomi pics and it's clear that the better self shadows make the skin look less flat and plastic, with a much more realistic looking depth and it just looks all round a lot better to me.

Never noticed how much better the graphics are on ps4. The soft skin does actually make a pretty noticeable difference and there appears to be much worse anti aliasing on ps3.

Johnny is one of my favourite characters and he looks awesome but I can't help getting the feeling that he (and sonya) shouldn't have been included. I thought that the point of Cassie was to blend together Johnny and Sonya's styles, thereby freeing up 2 character slots. As much as I'm hyped for...

Really like the females, particularly Nyo, Lei and Momiji. Raidou also looks pretty awesome. Minus the ninjas there are 10 characters left, including Alpha. So can we assume that Alpha will be getting a costume as well? Because to be honest, I would prefer that Hayabusa get another outfit...

I agree, the variations just seem to limit a characters moveset. If you could switch variations mid fight it would make for some interesting mix ups but being locked into one variation for the full fight is just limiting your options.
