Do that all the time. I'll be dicking around in training mode, and then I'll save videos when I happen upon a move sequence I'll want to commit to memory. It's also during this time that I'll make note of my misses.

I feel like a smoother controller would work on any game, though. Even one with choppy inputs like MK (as opposed to the fluid DOA inputs). Reliability with regard to response is important as well. I hate inputting something that involves 7913 and getting inconsistent responses. Most of the time...

Basically, an early video game tradition that stuck. Even if the main enemy in a game doesn't hold a "boss" occupation, it's still referred to as such.

Outside of the video game context, boss, is common parlance which refers to your superiors. Your manager at the grocery store you work at, for example.
