She'll probably be holding a sword handle, a potato would be too large to fit in her hand compared to the other things she usually holds.

I think that has more to do with the differences in visual style than one looking better than the other; KoF uses a cartoony design while DOA uses a more realistic style. TN clearly just modeled her to better suit their game. The same applies to the VF characters...
