This is a poll about guaranteed damage...

I misread that as the "law of 3rd Strike." Then again, that would basically call for 35-50% damage of a hit confirm with some exception. That said, I do prefer the "let people do as much damage as they can as long as they have the skill to do so" philosophy.

    Character Comparison Advice

Quoting this for the LOLz before the OP realizes his mistake and changes it.

    SkullGirls

It's currently the #1 downloadable game in Japan.

This is a poll about guaranteed damage...

Should allow for as much damage as the player can string together.

    Community Save Yourself

I like this. Reminds me of the burst meter in ArcSys games which makes sense since holds do just about the same thing, except they do more damage in general.

Because he wouldn't be a trap otherwise.

Should 1.03a Tag be the new tournament standard?

Except without any form of guaranteed big damage, that kind of back and forth means exactly two things, "jack" and "shit." The back and forth of fighting in any game only means something when there is "risk" behind it. Without that "risk" (from combos), then the back and forth loses meaning as...

Thelo's Quick Guide To Reaction-Based Defense

Then you have players like Daigo and Infiltration who totally throw all this out the window with how good they can read people.

    Feature Request Clan Section Possibilty?

The underlined is your problem (the word before is also another problem). You want competition, stop playing online, come out to events, weeklies, ranbats, tournaments, majors, etc. That's how you find more competition. EDIT: MKU still lives? I thought the competitive MK scene was all at...

Should 1.03a Tag be the new tournament standard?

Except this doesn't have TTT2's round system where you lose a round after losing 1 character. This alone makes it so that it's impossible to do more than 50% damage of total life, meaning that long extended combos are just fine. Heck, this isn't even like Marvel where you can do a mixup to...

    Feature Request Clan Section Possibilty?

But these days, tags are reserved for sponsors.

    Feature Request Clan Section Possibilty?

Clans have never really been a thing in the fighting game community. Especially in the offline scene (which is what matters).

    New Feature for 1.03A

It did, because we explored the game and found ways to make it better. Except we aren't playing basketball with busted equipment, and nor are we changing the rules. We just found a way to play with the all-star Dream Team against the boys in the hood. The problem is that you're falling into...

    New Feature for 1.03A

Missing the point, which is that fighting games always grow beyond how the developers initial design. Except we aren't substituting a soccer ball for a basketball. We're just finding the best plays and strategies that the rules (in this case, as dictated by the game's code) will allow. A...

    New Feature for 1.03A

This whole concept of the "integrity" of the series is the problem. The best fighting series and developers are the ones that recognize the fact that fighting games as a genre are "emergent." This means that how the games are eventually played is dictated by the players. Except, thanks to how...

    New Feature for 1.03A

How about because DOA4's system was ass. Itagaki's vision for 4 runs contrary to good fighting game design. There's a reason every combo breaking mechanics in most legitimate competitive fighters are all limited in some form or other - because doing otherwise simply makes the game more random at...

    Defending Against Aggressive Players

2D community likes their broken shit. Also, there is a bit of an execution barrier to it. Besides, it's a reaction to all the stupid BS Dimps put in to nerf offense in SFIV. Being able to mash reversals out of blockstrings and missed 1 frame links is almost as retarded as hold out of stun. On...

    Defending Against Aggressive Players

I was talking about the 2D equivalent. AE2012 unblockables which mean that you can't do anything to defend on wakeup if someone is able to start vortex on you. It is similar to force techs which is why I was making the comparison, seeing as the OP comes from a 2D background (in any case, this...
