Some new developments.
First up, SKULLGIRLS IS COMING TO EVO.

Also, Squiggly, the first DLC character is going to be crowdfunded...
On a related note, it appalls me that discussion on this seems pretty limited to... well here (and DOAW where Manny complains about it not making the game feel like DOA). So outside of the core community, there doesn't seem to be much awareness of the preference to keep the glitch in.
Random online scrub versus someone who actually a) writes for the largest fighting game site on the web (Shoryuken.com) and b) has actually made top 8 in a tournament.
Nerfing SE (whether by the glitch or something else) is a step in that direction.
It's not about making the game "unique." It's about making the game more competitively viable.
The fundamentals of fighting games are:
-space control
-reading
-defense
-execution
The glitch affects none of those. In fact, it actually emphasizes them due to the high risk you face if you make...
But even Kuroda will tier whore in 3S when it comes to tournaments. If by any chance he isn't using top tier, it's usually in a team tournament where he's partnered with 2 top tier players (e.g. SBO 2012 where his Oro was partnered with Boss' Yun and MOV's Chun).
IMO, 3rd Strike (and the SFIII series in general) is a good example of a yomi heavy game with alot of guessing.
EDIT: Here's an example of a good competitive game with "guesses."
J makes a bunch of good "reads/guesses against Kokujin. This is all he needs really since Makoto is designed to be...
I've been wondering the same thing.
Actually, I've heard some VF players get pissed off when it was mentioned that it was the Japanese VF players that wanted more guessing.
I'm surprised that TN hasn't made any replies about this. If this were Capcom or Namco, we'd have someone already address it. Then again, TN/Tecmo-Koei doesn't really have anyone like FilthieRich or Haunts or Combofiend working for them.
They're putting the game on IPL, so it at least shows...
The problem is that you fail to understand that the only way to create a competitive fighting game dependent on fighting for single hits, would be to make one where a single hit wins you the round. Hence we have Divekick and Senor Footsies. Anything less and we start to introduce randomness...
