With photoshop there are a number of brushes that I use and you can mess with the opacity as well, so it maintains the texture. I could help out if you want? BTW, trying to make a night 'Desert Wasteland', but it's pretty difficult. Need to replicate the lighting on all the textures just...

Use r51 of uMod, not r53. Works like a charm.
