Would like to add that some people don't want to play in a lobby full of random people, then wait four matches just to play one. It's not necessarily dead online, people are just playing in private lobbies.

That's the problem I have with male characters in FF. They all look so... gay?

Even if you are an online player, and "random" to most people you might still have a lot of knowledge on the game and a certain character. It's all in the brain in the end.
