What I love too is how people always zoom in really close to the characters or ground in order to prove the graphics are sh*tty. There are many more fighting games that are far worse off and you just don't realize it because they don't provide a zoom-in camera mode. ;)

I think it's unfair though to bring up the "4's stages were more colorful" argument. That was the stylistic choice for the game. 3 was almost the complete opposite with the darker and more dull colors. And then in DOAD (which was not made by Itagaki) many stages were vibrant and colorful...
