I agree with @Argentus. Start with one character and do their command training followed by combo challenges (try and do as many as you can for each but don't get hung up if you don't 100% complete them). Next start fighting the CPU at a level where you feel comfortable. Keep at it (increasing...

I'm surprised Aerial Gardens isn't in the game already. It's such an iconic stage from 2 and the majority of players seem to want it back.
