thats life, if you cant draw decently your going to be at a disadvantage for this type of thing. look at it this way they took the time learning to draw that well and now they're reaping the benefit.

what matters is conveying your ideas as clearly as possible, for example this is clearly drawn by somebody who knows how to draw, but the lack of color, odd position, and too much detail makes it look worse. this on the other hand, although doesn't look as impressive shows you very clearly...
