The problem is...the game is already uneven enough as it is. Certain characters already have the ability to pulling off (or at least have a comparably easier time pull off) a 14 hit combo with the drop of a hatch. This is actually leveling out the playing field. Look at the discrepancies...

I mean I guess you could argue the same thing with FT's and ask how it makes sense for someone who is on the ground to suddenly stand up in a stun when you hit them. You may not like the look but it will improve gameplay at a more competitive level.
