I think Gamespot is encouraging gamer suicide.

This has to be the most depressing set of headlines I think I've ever read back-to-back.

So which version is everyone all getting

A common misconception with underdog fighting game fans is that if their game has an arcade presence it automatically becomes popular. They get this idea because of the way street fighter and mortal kombat made such a massive impact on american culture back when there was literally no...

    DOA5 E3 Version Q&A

The purpose of frame advantage is to limit some options, not all options... most of the time. Guard Breaks/Guard Crushes you cannot hold out of however, so they serve that purpose well. And I'm honestly not sure what it is, but certain attacks now... both on hit, and on guard, make the hold...

    DOA5 E3 Version Q&A

You risk less in DOA because the counter system is always there to bail you out. (which is stupid) And, because every string can be delayed, you can never tell when someone has actually stopped attacking. (which is also stupid) You are literally forced to attack at disadvantaged in order to...

    DOA5 E3 Version Q&A

I believe we already had this discussion. VF doesn't have holds in stun... true, but irrelevant. Most stuns in DOA are deep enough that you can get the stun from the first hit of a string, cancel, and mix up with something else. It's not as if the stun system is dependent on delayable...

What if?? They have more characters?

It remains to be seen how far the unholdable stun system makes it through development... Shimbori-san did say he did not want to nerf the critical burst as he likes the concept, but he felt it was too easy to reach it with certain characters (and he was probably talking about mine, honestly)...

Seth Killian leaves Capcom. Is that good for us¿

Nobody wants to get crucified for someone else's bad decisions. It takes a true believer to withstand that kind of heat for long, and true believers are not very popular as community managers. This was pretty much unavoidable.

    DOA5 E3 Version Q&A

DOA doesn't have delayable strings "like VF has". VF strings are only delayable at certain specific junctions in specific strings, and that is what makes the situation logical to defend against. With DOA, it's pretty much every attack junction at every string for every character. There is no...

His comments about the online mode are more interesting. Sounds like he's already planning DOA 6.

Unfortunately I don't understand the extent of this particular issue as I never tried dimensions horrible version of tag.

    DOA5 E3 Version Q&A

Thats a strange oddity you found there, but there was definitely no way for any human to pull that off. My only explanation is that it's arcade mode so the CPU was capable of pulling off that restricted attack.

It's about presentation, really. People don't gripe about ringouts in soul calibur/VF because you have to set them up, and because its instant death you don't have to wait through for 20 seconds. Sure, MVC2 is big on the endless combos of incredible stupidity... and a certain crowd likes that...

Why be consistent when we can just confuse the hell out of everybody? Rite of passage, I say.

Those games very good examples of that type of balance, as well. They are a bit too fast for my preference, actually, but the fundamental balance of it is astounding.

Well, define "fucked up". My options are good. Your options are good. Both take skill to get going since we have to avoid each others options at the same time. High level players will consistently beat low level players because of the awareness of these options. Sounds like a fundamentally...
