inb4 we get off topic again and get the thread closed down.
You do really love your drive by "inb4 closed down" or *getting popcorn* posts...

Anyways...the Soul Calibur series is imho a very good example of pretty equal fanservice and sexualization of both men and woman. Of course you can basically undress every character, but also the default costume designs are equally sexy:

Some examples from the most recent game SCV:

By the way, the character design and art is done by the character designer and illustrator Takuji Kawano, who also does work for the Tekken series. There his designs are also known for being equally sexualized for both genders:

And even the DLC in the game...

Yeah I love how the Soul calibur and Tekken series have equal amounts of sexualization. The only time it went off the deep end was with those just ugly outfitswith or without sexualization for that crap free to play game.

Asukas sweater school uniform is love and so is Bishoujo Asuka.

Also, am I the one gets a kick from blazer school uniforms? When I'm on my laptop I'll post more what I mean but blazer uniforms tend to be both attractive and cute simultaneously.

Hitomi in her Schoolgirl Strikers costume is the best damn thing I've seen in recent DLC

I'll try to compare Hayate's and Ein's faces later like I did Kasumi/Phase. Interested to see the results

Anyone remember these from TTT2 if you bought the game new

Tekken+Tag+Tournament+Fundoshi.jpg

Now that I think about it VF5FS is another fighting game with equal fan service

I remember when TTT2 was coming out, and they've been announcing swimsuits. Part of the male swimsuits really suck in variety (Lee/Violet the only male that isn't Fundoshi or those bodysuits that fat & old males wear which is a speedo), unlike females (which is like how DOA offers for swimsuits) along with Combot, Roger Jr., Alex, & True Ogre. It would be nice for the male characters to have their own swimsuit maybe if Tekken 7 would include swimsuits again like TTT2 & Tekken Revolution.

This shit showed up in my newsfeeds

The designer asked the wrong question. It's not about male characters dressing like female characters, it's about whether women would get turned on by male characters who dress like like female characters.

If the designer's goal was to show the ridiculousness of female sexualization, then putting a men in female characteris costume wouldn't do that because sexualization is meant to visually please the opposite sex.

The opposite of female sexualization is male sexualization, and making men dress like women just straight up misses the point.

If women don't find male characters who dress like female characters attractive, then the artist created something no one even likes.

Hawkeye Initiative made male characters dress like female characters so they can use that to create a gotcha moment and criticize female sexualization, but the end result is something no one even finds attractive. They need to read more romance novels to understand how women actually sexualize men.

There is a very big difference between male and female sexualization that the Schlong black raiden is not understanding.

The genitals , penis and vagina, are equally taboo to display in a skintight manner. No fighting game is showing camal toe, let's be real.

What is often compared to the penis are breasts. A comparison that makes no sense. Breasts are not genetalia like the penis, they are secondary sexual characteristics, just like wide hips on women and large muscles, squared jaw, broad shoulders, and facial/body hair.

Honestly this comparison of breasts and penis needs to stop because it makes zero sense historically and culturally. Look at Samoan culture where prior to meeting Europeans, women were topless but both men and women wore loin clothes. In modern Europe just look to Barcelona Spain and you will see both Men and women topless but both usually covering their genitals.

Many will say "women wear tops and bottoms with bikinis in the states and men cover their crotch- they are equal. The most that I can to that is that the breasts of today are much like the ankles on women in Victorian times, fetishized since they are most often covered but not unusual to catch glimpses of them in normal clothing.

But in the end secondary sexual characteristic sexualizatiom in video games are currently equal. Just look at how the web went nuts over shirtless ryu with a beard. A full beard, broad shoulders, squared jaw, and heavily muscled are equal to large breasts on female characters.

Both are just secondary sexual characteristics.

As someone so eloquently once put it

Only covering the nipple of an otherwise bare breast is like only covering the tip of an otherwise exposed penis. We're still seeing the whole thing.

Well the bikinis some of the girls have (and Maries c2) fit that criteria.
Breasts are in no way equatable to a penis.

Look up the scientific definitions of primary and secondary sexual characteristics.

If you wanna argue culture you could argue they all should be in burkas as well. Culture wavers, science is more reliable.

Some of these all look like they were pulled right off the girls in DOA, except they're still infinitely more tasteful. I think that uncomfortability you have looking at those is similar to how women may feel playing many games. I actually love those outfits now - thanks for pointing them out! Something to aim for the next time I play any of the REs.
Let's hope none of those women ever go to a beach, walk in front of a Victoria secret in any mall, EVER see a cover of Cosmo magazine, a women's fitness magazine, see a highschool Halloween party, or go to a nightclub.

Let's be real here, no sane person under 35 is made felt uncomfortable by things in DOA. Only those with huge self confidence issues, jealousy problems, or radical feminists find anything in games so irritating that they forget this kind of thing IS EVERYWHERE YOU LOOK yet women have it better in the modern first world than they EVER had in history.

Where yano they were fully covered up and couldn't vote, own property, wear pants, and in some cases testify in court.

Hell even what they get upset about makes no sense given that what was reserved for hookers in the 80's

Is now what women wear to a family party or a high school formal, he'll I've seen minidresses in church lol.

Boobs are good, i like boobs.

Speaking of boobs, what I miss (especially in most fighters with their hundreds of costumes) are models where breast deformation is modelled. For example when clothing pushes up breasts oder pushes them together. You hardly see that. They always have the same default shape in whatever clothing.

I mean something like this:

or...

Prost! XD (German drinking toast)

I'm pretty sure some of the default outfits actually did stuff like that (Helena's corset/Leifangs black dress) and then they just didn't bother when they started releasing dlc outfits.

Like most others, you missed the point -_-.

It doesn't matter what the scientific definition of prima ray and secondary or tertiary sexual characteristics are

The point was simply that only covering the tip doesn't make the rest of it any less exposed.

Like the outfits in this game that only cover where the nipple should be? Those are still topless outfits.

No definitions matter.

Since "equality" is all anyone ever talks of, then males buff upper body being fully exposed being okay shouldn't be any different than a females torso being exposed. Chiseled abs, round delts, wide shoulders, large pecs, biceps and triceps are the equivalent of large breasts.

Both are secondary sexual characteristics that have nothing to do with actually making a baby.

So you can't say boobs = penis

The only equivalent of a penis on the female body is the vagina. NO VIDEO GAME FIGHTER SHOWS ANY PART OR IMPRESSION OF THE VAGINA.

But every SJW argument that shows an image like how men would be dressed as women are in games, puts a tightly clad penis as the equivalent of breasts.

Meanwhile ripped abs and being muscular are waved away as male power fantasies.

Sorry but Master Chief is my power fantasy, not this or Magic Mike.

By the way, remember the sexy preorder outfits that Capcom announced for Street Fighter V?

Funnily enough it was "Hot Ryu", as the costume was dubbed by the internet, (a Gamestop exclusive) that made the biggest splash out of them all. It even trended for a while on Twitter and Tumblr and sparked tons of fanart and fanfiction. Was it just the beard or the fact that Ryu was seen as sexually attractive for the first time by gamers? o__O Here is a very interesting article about the phenomenon:

http://www.themarysue.com/hot-ryu-follow-up/

The article tries to separate sexyness from sexualization...
Here are some more articles by Kotaku: http://kotaku.com/why-the-internet-freaked-out-over-hot-ryu-1730101453
and pastemagazine: http://www.pastemagazine.com/articl...that-launched-a-thousand-ships-hot-ryu-a.html

A while after the success of most of all "Hot Ryu" Capcom eventually announced a "Hot Package Edition" of Street Fighter 5 (only for Japan though) that features all the preorder costumes as well as a completely new cover art:

Hot Ryu not only lives in our minds but our hearts
- Albert Einstein 1918.

Cool to see Capcom kind of went along with the reaction to Ryu. Also for what ever reazon ive never at any point had a "male power fantasy". Then again I prefer female protagonists so whatever.

This is not the first time Ryu's been seen as hot by gamers. I think SFIV was the only game he generally wasn't with how ugly he looked.

When it comes to "power fantasies" I do think they're the case sometimes but not all the time. For example Duke Nukem isn't made at all for women or gay men. He was made to be like a cool buff dude that the player could imagine themselves as.
