Are There Easier Inputs for Stagger Escapes?

The stagger escape input according to the tutorial in DOA 5 LR is wicked hard to pull off, and I want to know if there are any easier inputs. I keep trying to hold the H button, and rotate my D-pad repeatedly like I am being instructed to, but it never seems to work. So if there is an easier input for it, that would be greatly appreciated.

Also, in regards to my defense and mix ups with Hitomi, how could I improve them? I would show you replays if I knew how the recording feature on my PS4 worked and if I knew any easy ways to use the system's Share Factory video editor, and most of my replays are my victories. I need to know some safe strings that won't get countered easily so I can practice them. Also, general strategies and safer attack patterns would be great, too. I am on a losing streak right now, and I want out of it. ANY advice will help, I am actually getting desperate at this point, because I want to make the higher ranks.

I know it may sound silly to you to want to be high ranked, but I want it. I just... Do. Also, I want to be known for getting that high rank with my main character, Hitomi. I want to be KNOWN for being good with her, and any advice, ANY advice, strategies and so on will be of great use to me. PLEASE comment your strategies on THIS thread only, and if you want to do one-on-one training with me, that would be AWESOME. Thanks in advance.

You do it the right way. Holding H and then rotating circles is the way to do it. Make sure the circles are smooth and you rotate fast, and you will SE at fastest. However, you might want to try out:

:h: :+: :9::1::9::1::9::1::9:... or
:h::+::7::3::7::3::7::3::7:... depending on your preference.

I usually use your method, but the above method seems to work better for some people.

You'll know you escape at fastest if you let the CPU (Rig) do the following inputs in training mode:

:2::P+K: > Bending Stance :K::K::6::K: > :P+K:

If you don't get hit by the CB, you have slow escaped on fastest. If you do get hit, however, then you didn't. It's a great way to see if you can consistently slow escape at fastest or not.

That's too hard of an input though... Tecmo needs to fix this at some point... Anyway, I'll try it, but I failed the tutorials because I just couldn't get it to work no matter how hard I tried.

Also, do you have any safer strings for Hitomi?

Unfortunately, I don't play Hitomi well enough to give you advice about her strings. I know she has plenty of safe moves though. You might want to have a look at the Hitomi boards and/or ask your questions about Hitomi there.

They need to use the Input to "Just Guard" from Soul Calibur to Stagger Escape In DoA...... its more effecient and won't break your controller.

That wouldn't make much sense since you can't guard while you're stunned. It's fine the way it is now, imo. Just Guard is harder for me than Slow Escape as well (but that is a personal issue, I have to admit).

It isn't a personal issue. JG timing is very hard to perform in the middle of the match while SE is universal and pretty easy once you get it down.

I never said to make it possible to guard out of stun..... I just want the input from the "Just Guard" feature to be used for Sragger Escaping.
Hold :h: for 10 Frames to Stagger Escape..... thats a better input compared to rotating the stick like a crack addict which has its down sides, can cause you to perform a hold by accident, can cause you to come out of stun in crouching stance and in one occasion I've seen some one accidentily side step by accident and last but not least... its probably not good for whatever controller you're using.

That would be much simpler. I don't even try to stagger escape, because each time I do it, I throw out an accidental hold, and get throw punished or the combo the opponent is performing is just extended and I take a lot of damage. I simply just attempt to hold the opponent, or I don't hold at all so that I can fall to the ground and think of another approach. The AI and Tutorial mode make it look so simple, yet I can't do it, and I've been playing for 3 years...:(

Pretty much the same story with me.
Everytime I get hit with a Sit Down Stun it just feels like I'm playing Tekken.

Ditto on that. I don't really worry to much about stagger escapes unless I'm fighting the Virtua Fighters(especially Pai and Sarah)....that's when the game shows you why you should know how to stagger escape like the back of your hand.

LoL.... against the AI I just hold block and wait.... Sarah and Especially Pai like to Counter Hit and they have Mix Ups for days.... even if you do throw the right hold they just delay their attack......... When I found out that holding increases stun duration I decided to stop holding and just block and wait..... The AI usually waits for me to throw out a hold then it attacks.... but if I don't hold then sometimes the stun runs its course and I block the next attack because Pai was too busy dilly dallying with her shenanigans. I also side step like 10 times each round since they really suck at tracking. I was playing as Sarah the other day and the AI's behavoir changes drastically when you use one if the VF Characters, it sides steps ALOT !!! Its like Playing against Christie.... All the Time.

My fights with the VF characters play out pretty much like actual VF fights..... theres barely any holding.

Akira's AI is pretty annoying too. His AI likes to block and turtle, and force you to try to throw him, but he suddenly attacks, and stuns you like mad... Luckily for anyone who's unlucky enough to face him in legend, he strikes mainly with mid strikes, so you won't have to really stagger escape. With Jacky, he likes to strike high a lot, and try to pressure you to stagger escape. Since idk how, I just use the :6::7::h: advanced hold when I'm being Phase 4 or Marie Rose XD. Other than that, I don't think you necessarily have to know how to stagger escape, but it's beneficial when mastered and saves you the time of having to throw out a risky hold.

Being the grappler that I am I use to use Offensive Holds against Akira pretty much exclusively. It was when I switched over to Striking Characters when I realised just how much of a pain in the ass he can be.... yeah he does use alot of mids but I couldn't hold my way too victory if only because such a task was way too boring..... thats when I started with Spacing..... Akira has horrible range, all I had to do was hang back and punished him everytime he missed...... some times I could land a counter hit strong enough to use my critical burst set ups, which was rare.
Now I just need a plan for Jacky, Pai and Rig..... Jacky is no problem, he's not as safe as those other two.

Pai and Rig are tough to beat all right. Pai is good at mixing up, so you kinda have to block and poke here and there with her, but missing a hold against her is suicide, because she'll do a throw that puts you in a horrible position, and she'll combo you into oblivion. Rig is mainly a kicker, so he mainly kicks high, and somewhat less mid, but he's good at delaying. I can't beat him consistently with Kasumi, but for some reason, He's pretty easy when I use Phase 4, despite how unsafe she is XD. I can't use critical bursts as much anymore, because the computer will either hold and catch me off guard, or will suddenly stagger escape and block it, leaving me at their mercy.

Don't worry buddy.... we'l crack this thing. ;)

The Slow Escaping mechanic is fine the way it is. It doesn't require too much effort once you get the hang of it. Just make it yourself a habit, you'll need it.

Maybe........ its still a flawed input command though. It needs to be changed.

Edit:
Whats up with the Wake Up tutorial ? I know you don't really need to mash :h: a bunch of times to get up...... unless if theres something I don't know about it like maybe the game isn't really sure thats what I want to do so it needs me to mash it to confirm ?

Yeah there's no real reason to have to spaz on the dpad when they could just have "mash or hold Block+Back" instead. Much more efficient and easier on the controllers. I usually pass on SE and focus on Holds because SE is too much hassle
