Helena also had other things going for her that put her in at top tier in DOA4. Safety, damage, superior crushes, damage(twice), and she had her offensive hold.

The only thing she retains in DOA5 was the force tech. The only viable form of guaranteed damage and pressure within that game.

Safety is irrelevant because the life bar increases made punishment worthless. Her crushes were better, but they aren't exactly bad now. Damage wasn't nerfed all that much, again its the life bar. Everyone lost the offensive hold except a few chars, so that change evens out.

In exchange, she got easier access to her force tech from several different juggle setups. Still top tier.

If there is no way around something, how the hell isn't it broken?
There is a way around it you just have to guess correctly. An infinite loop is "broken", this is just a guessing game this a heavily in her favour. Busa's guard crushes are similar, you can't side step them, or block them or hit him out of them. You have to counter them. The only difference is you can react to the guard crushes.

I'm not saying it's exactly the same but apparently our definition of "broken" is different.

There is no way for me to guess correctly the vast majority of the time when the odds are against me, and there is no way for me to avoid getting stunned even once with any consistency which is all it requires to set up.

It's broken.

Go back to the SF2 Akuma matchup... yes, you could beat him, but the odds were so heavily stacked against you what was the point? The very idea of competition was completely shit on. Everyone recognizes he was broken because of this.

It's really about getting that first hit in, and Helena isn't usually going to be the one. Her lack of safety and disadvantage makes it harder to initiate the stun system. She'll be doing it more than most characters per round as well.

Is it a bullshit tool as E.Mann put it? Yeah. Does it make the character herself bullshit or broken, no not really. Imagine this tech on someone like Kokoro, Genfu or Jann Lee.

Are you seriously comparing SF2 Akuma to DOA5 Helena? Okay I'll try and be as nice about this as possible, I think you need to take a step back and cool off cause this pseudo force tech stuff has clearly gotten way to far under your skin. I mean that comparison is just going way too far.

I think Super Turbo Akuma is an exaggerated example.

Rikuto, do you have ideas on what you are going to do against Helena players on upcoming NEC?

Characters are defined by the tools they are composed of. Put it on anybody and its retarded.

Let me know when she stops winning tournaments she is properly represented at. You guys have no idea how fucked you are now that this is back. It's innocent but unfortunate.

I know that Jann Lee has a specific technique that can help combat Helena's force tech. But like I said, I dont know enough about other characters to say if its broken (Im leaning towards not) or will just cause really really bad matchups for certain characters.

A shitload of stuns that Helena can get on you technically put you into a rising state. Jann Lee can slow escape out of almost any of these stuns (Sitdowns included) and even go from a forced tech almost instantaneously into his (Rising)46P blastback punch. When you couple that with invincibility frames you can easily sneak that in to do major damage and keep the Helena player honest. Especially since it obviously beats grabs as well.
