Being the massive, hardcore, Darkstalkers fanboy that I am, I'm willing to set my grudge against Capcom aside and getting hyped for this re-release : P

Ditto on CvS2. That game was AMAZING. I had the EO Version on Xbox, and it was definitely one of the best 2D fighters of its time. As for Darkstalkers 4, I'm highly interested in seeing it happen. I want to see what happened after Anita killed off Dee at the end of Vampire Savior. I also wanna see Jedah's random blood antics rendered in glorious 3D XD

Oh man, this is great news. I was just mentioning to a friend yesterday that I wish Capcom would release Darkstalkers on XBL or PSN. Vampire Savior was one of my favorite 2D fighters. Can't wait to play with Donovan, Bishamon, and Victor again!

Yeah, indeed this is great news. The series in general is just Capcom's best for me for these reasons:
1) Better character designs.
2) Knees Street Fighter in the face when it comes to having a good, coherent story.
3) Superior gameplay mechanics making it stand out from other 2D fighters. SF3 is out of the question since that game is HHHHRRNGH <3
I always had Felicia and Jon Talbain as my mains since I love catgirls and Jeet Kun Do werewolves that howl like Bruce Lee is just one of the coolest freaking concepts on the planet! I also sub Jedah, Q-Bee, and Hsien-ko. I tried using Donovan a couple of times since he became my favorite after watching the OVA all the way through to the end, but I never seem to get the hang of him D: I oughtta pick up Demitri as well when the game comes out since one of my friends practically use him all the time to kick the tar out of me.
And lastly, I also like Darkstalkers because all the females in the games are haaaaaaawwwwwwttt :V

Nah, it's just as confusing, especially once you get to stuff like how Lei-Lei keeps dying and turning into a jiang-shi.
Also, as balanced as VSav is (bottom tiers like Lilith win tournaments in Japan), the does get its balance at the cost of some gameplay variety. The new one should make it so that not everyone has to rush that shit down.
Well, I'll be dad-gummed. Rare footage of Capcom actually giving good news, for a change (save for CvS2 being released on PSN SOMEWHERE in the world...).
If that Concept Trailer implies a sequel is being done, I'm banking $1 on the possible new sequel to Darkstalkers being released on a better graphics engine, and the talks about it being on a modified SF4 engine was merely prototype talk, and nothing more. I'm also betting an additional $1 it'll be released in July 2014, which is essentially the 20th anniversary of the exact month in the exact season the first Darkstalkers game was released in arcades... and it's on the same month as my birthday. =3

^that sounds about accurate lol given the time frame of capcoms releases. They release the bundle next year while working on the sequel. Then by July of 2014 it will be released.
I'm having a geek moment here, but if they are in fact doing a Darkstalkers 4, the following key characters should be revealed as playable and addressed to progress the story:
1) Anita (In the previous games, it's been implied she'd awaken to a destiny to be ruler of humankind when she grows up, given her abilities as an esper. This is a direct contrast to Morrigan's destiny to be ruler of demonkind in the Makai upon being able to wear the Isis RIng, the Aensland clan's heirloom. It's a strong possibility that the two of them will end up becoming rivals when their full power comes to realization. In that logic, Anita should be the main character of Darkstalkers 4.)
2) A member of the Voshtal clan (In the Makai there were three ruling families-- the Aensland clan, the Dohma clan, and the Voshtal clan. Morrigan and Jedah were playable representatives of the Aensland and Dohma clan respectively, and the only reason the Voshtal clan weren't revealed so far was because they acted more as intellectuals rather than rulers by an iron fist. It would be interesting if one such representative was revealed as playable by now...)
3) Baraba Kreutz (According to official sources, this lesser noble of the Makai was not only an old rival of Demitri, but also somehow linked to the werewolf Gallon. He is technically not confirmed dead, but had "disappeared". He would still be an interesting character to help expand on Gallon's story upon accepting his curse as a werewolf.)
4) Emperor Ozomu (The fat demon responsible for taking over the Dohma clan by killing Jedah 100 years prior, and giving the zombie Zabel his powers in the afterlife. After Jedah was revived, he was killed by him. It would still be interesting if he was somehow revived by a member of the Voshtal clan only to be used by that clan to rule the Makai.)
5) There was also a demon blacksmith in the Makai who created Bishamon's armor and sword mentioned in official sources that should also be taken to consideration. Now that Bishamon has become a "master" of Hannya, it's likely he'll want the armor back, as the fact a human has control over the armor may prove to be a bad omen for the Makai. This would help expand on Bishamon's story a great deal.
6) Not necessarily essential, but I heard there was also a rumored new character named "Will" (according to early development rumors), who is apparently another Darkhunter like Bulleta. Based loosely on William Tell, he wields two shotguns, but mainly uses them melee-style.

Additional RAM means that the issues Niitsuma supposedly had putting certain Darkstalkers characters in UMvC3 will no longer be an issue. The crazy animations such as those seen from Phobos, Anakaris, and the like will be better implemented with increased RAM, not to mention prettier looking 3D models (assuming 3D models will be used).

There's a large chance the game would follow the SFIV art style in some way. It's weird on the SF characters since it didn't fit with the characters as much as it should have. Darkstalkers on the other hand has always been very cartoony and over-the-top with the risque character designs, exaggerated stagger/stun animations, and Jedah's weird inflation antics (I.E. Q-bee's stinger being pumped with blood then exploding). I'd welcome the 3d art style to the game, though it makes me wonder how much they'll tone down the series' trademark violence. Especially considering how gruesome Jedah's attacks are.
And I'm also looking forward to Will's existence. Nunchaku Shotguns are, like, the greatest weapons EVER <3 Sounds like he'd be a perfect rival for Talbain.

Having played Vampire Savior for a long while myself, it's safe to say that I prefer Night Warriors mostly since Jon and Felicia has more tools at their disposal than VS. Sad over the lack of Q-Bee and B.B. Hood, but I can manage. I oughtta start playing on GGPO again, but I tend to forget since I hardly log on anymore.
